Dear loved ones,
Have you ever reflected upon your
subjective experiences? Do you know where this subjective, private
experience comes from? If you find it difficult to discover and explain your
qualitative experiences stay tuned with me because here, I am coming to you
with a book " The Conscious Mind - In Search of a Fundamental Theory" which is the masterpiece of a prominent philosopher David
Chalmers. Which gives a clear understanding of the personal experiences.
Here I am going to discuss three
philosophical ideas that are highly commendable and captivating which bring
out the reality of my nature of myself as a conscious being.
The first and most effective
philosophical concept is " phenomenal consciousness" which suggests
the unique idea of my subjective, qualitative, and inner conscious experiences
of seeing a beautiful sunrise, the taste of delicious food feelings of joy and
pain. This phenomenon of consciousness is also known as the Qualia experience. It
is an individual's experience. These feelings and experiences are highly
personal and subjective. The experience I have of seeing a beautiful red rose
is absolutely mine and no others can have the same experience as I received in
the same way personal experiences of eating ice cream will not be the same
but different for each individual.
The second concept is "Hard
problem of consciousness " which extends from the Qualia experience. This idea is really mysterious because where these subjective experiences occur is beyond my comprehension. This
idea perplexed me and drowned my attention to reflect on where these personal or subjective experiences come from. I can tell the taste of biryani
but I can't tell from where and how I get such experience. So, this problem
remains a mystery for I cannot express where my personal
experiences come from.
The third concept is “phenomenal
Zombies.” I am sure many have come across Zombies in Hollywood movies
but in the book, Chalmers has discussed the Zombies who are similar in
all aspects like speaking, walking means everything they do is exactly as any
other human does but they lack conscious experiences. They don't experience
feelings of pain, joy, sadness color of a red rose and taste, etc.
Dear friends if you really want to
know the mystery of your personal, subjective, and qualitative experiences I
would recommend you to read this above-mentioned book and get benefited.
